Southwest Parke Community
School Corporation
Southwest Parke Community School Corporation was established in 1974. It included students from Montezuma, Rosedale, Mecca, Bridgeton, and many other smaller communities who at one time had a schoolhouse. In 1986 – 1987 school year, Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School was built which was a combination of Montezuma and Rosedale High Schools. Currently, there are two elementary schools, Montezuma Elementary and Rosedale Elementary, which feed Riverton Parke. The Aztecs and Hotshots come together and become Panthers. The three schools are committed to being part of a Professional Learning Community.
It has developed into one of the finest schools in the area. Many of the teachers spend their entire teaching career at Southwest Parke Schools. A one to one device program came into existence in 2012 – 2013 school year, led by our Curriculum Integrated Specialist, and the students have thrived with the program. In 2012 – 2013 the F.F.A. program had its Livestock Judging team place second in the nation and was given the opportunity to compete in Scotland at the World Championships.
In addition to an excellent academic program in 2010, the Lady Panthers won the Class 1 State Championship in softball. Many of these athletes went on to play in college. Riverton Parke is also known for its baseball program and has had many students achieve baseball scholarships along the way!
